Live Action Noir Coming

You Heard right, a Live action version of Noir is set to air on the Starz TV network, and is to be directed by Sam Raimi. Not much is known on the project yet, but several news outlets have posted articles about it, including Funimations Blog and the Hollywood Reporter. Here is a Quote from The Hollywood Reporter.

Starz has picked up an action project from Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert that’s based on a Japanese anime TV series.
The premium cable network is developing Noir, a live-action U.S. remake of a 2001 show about two female assassins working in a criminal underworld. After discovering they’re mysteriously linked, the two and have to work together on missions (under the moniker of “Noir”) until they figure out why and how they are connected — or until one of them kills the other.

I think this could be a really cool show, but as with all things Hollywood you gotta expect changes and sometimes completely removing the original story all together. My expectation level is set low for these kinds of moviesshows, but I will watch it and I will pass my judgment when the time is right.

  1. I never expect the live action remakes of a series to follow the script or meet the level of the original, but I’ll be pissed if they don’t do at least a half decent job as this is one of the original shows that I liked and got me into anime. If they plan to wreck it from the start at least use something more recent that won’t get my hopes up too high like Black Lagoon. Like all the others, not crossing my fingers on this one.
