This anime season is almost over and that means that a new one will be starting. In passing it has brought us
a few note worthy titles like, Gundam 00 Season 2, Asu no Yoichi!, Maria Holic and of course some of the on going series such as Skip Beat! and Tales of the Abyss as well as some series that may have been better off not making an appearance ( Zettai Shogeki: ~Platunic Heart~) but lets not focus on the bad. Below is a look at some of the up coming shows of possible interest.
07-Ghost (Anime)
Set in a gothic fantasy world, this is the story of Teito Klein, an orphaned slave who became the top military academy student. However, an unexpected turn of events left him pursued by the forces of the Barsburg Empire. Now an escaping convict, Teito’s sheltered by the church and it’s law of sanctuary. Here, he discovered many mysteries surrounding himself, the church, and the Empire itself. The fact that he might be connected to a dethroned king and the mystical stone of god, ‘The Eye of Mikhael’ made him the target of the empire more than ever. Fortunately the church is under the mythical 7 Ghost protection. But who are the Ghosts really. Will Teito be free from the military’s clutch, And what of his said mission to uncover the history. And who is the military’s Chief-of-Staff Ayanami exactly. Teito’s future seems to have spiraled into an unexpectedly perilous path. [ANN]
Dragon Ball: Kai
– The DBZ TV series is receiving an extensive “refresh” for Japanese television airing
– This is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of DBZ
– While based on the original animation production, it is being updated with new technology
– This includes extending the frames for formatting on an HD 16:9 display (note: not cropping the image)
– The original Japanese cast is re-grouping to re-voice the show (where available, and unfortunately not including those that have passed on, such as Hirotaka Suzuoki [Tenshinhan])
– Sound effects are being updated
– Unlike the general show, the OPs and EDs are being completely redone
– While not in the above announcement, other reports are noting that the number of episodes is being reduced from 291 to approximately 100
New content:
– A brief look at the last moments of Bardock and Planet Vegeta
– An overview of young Goku’s growing up years (Dragonball, the pre-Z period) up until his triumph over Piccolo at the Tenkaichi-Budokai.
– The all-too-brief and yet still somewhat triumphant return of FARMER WITH A SHOTGUN!
And sadly (although that really all depends on how you look at things…)
– Goku’s winky has disappeared!
That’s right, through the miracle of “we’re just not gonna draw it anymore”, Li’l Goku is no longer going to be allowed to show off “Even Littler Goku” on TV. But don’t worry, they won’t do anything so blatant as to digitize tighty-whiteys on him.
– The story will be developed speedily! — “Kai” starts from the invasion of the Saiyans. This version will be re-edited to hew more closely to Akira Toriyama’s original story, so the story’s development will progress all the faster!
– The opening and ending songs will be completely renewed!! — The opening and ending songs will together be made anew! Furthermore, in “Kai”, the background music will be newly recorded. Let’s enjoy “Kai”, where even the music has been powered up!!
– Through digital processing, the image will be made vibrant!! — All the grime, damage and noise remaining on the “Z” film will be removed! In HD, the image will be even clearer. We’ve carefully made the ultra-powerful “Kai” world even more impressive!
– An all-star voice cast will record the lines anew!! — The original main cast, centered around Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, will reunite, yo. They’ll breathe life into the characters again, to support their appeal!!

In 4 years time the competition that will decide who the next Queen shall be will start. The strongest warrior will continue to rule the country according to tradition and expand it. The contestants need only be older than 12 years. They need not be human, intelligent or even of that country. The rules for the tournament are simple: murder is allowed. Any weapon can be chosen. The winner is decided when one of the participants flees or can’t move anymore. Such event is broadcasted trough a crystal sphere by the court’s magic teacher to all population to see and enjoy.

Second Seasons
There are a couple other shows worth mentioning but I will wait till more information on them is availible. As a whole this upcoming season seems to bring promise after the moderately dry tag-team we are currently finishing.
And for those that want to feel the pain that is Zettai Shougeki…
