For many of us that are up to date with this seasons anime, there is a huge selection of title. Among the few sequals I.E. K-On!!, Ikkitousen: Xtreme Xecutor and Da Capo there are big name companies rolling out new series as well. Angel Beats! is produced by P.A Works, with the orginal story created by Studio Key (AIR, Clannad, Little Busters). For those that aren’t familar with Angel Beats!;
Angel Beats! Takes place in a world after death, angels fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the other hand, Tenshi, the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers.

The first thing that you may notice is that the main character looks a lot like Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and let me be the first to say the similarities don’t end there. The story is first introduced to you in a way that you say ‘What?’, and then you go on to learn that Yurippe is the leader of a organization in which their HQ is located in a school clubroom. Both characters also have the persuasive tsudere attitude we’ve come to know as well.
Besides having a similar story to other series, the animation is riddled with perspective flaws and ‘what’ moments.
While some of it can be marked off as art style (maybe) some of them are just plain lack of attention during the animation phase. Only the first episode has been released thus far, so some may say it is a little early to tell — which is true, but they’re off to a quality van start. Its a little too early for me to give this series a score but I can say that I will at least be watching this show; even if it is to see how derailed it can get.
Dude btw hunters/snipers use their hands like that in a way to rest their muscles after hours of watching a target… And hands can do that…
Hands do bend that way, but their are many little flaws in the animation, the exit to her sleeve is incorrect making her hand look likes its holding the weapon at an impossible angle, also note the clip position and the left edge of the clip. I did not write this article but I see the odd placement, to be honest it looks like she’s about to get a huge scope eye with the way she’s holding that weapon, the stock is completely off her shoulder, that bi-pod is a joke, and the odd looking pistol grip combined with that lazy crazy angled hand are a sure bet on a face ring. A lazy sniper is a dead sniper, granted all these people are already dead lol. I have to side with Yudothat on this one.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions and all that. But shouldn’t you have finished the series before you started bashing it? It seems like an elitist type of review to just judge something by one episode, That’s like judging a book by it’s cover
Wow People are still posting on on this, this is so necro posting, this is not review read the title, it’s just a point out of some mistakes and minor issues with the first epp not a review or complete judgment, and further this is TV epp not DVD or final product. While we encourage people to engage in posting, at the time this post was posted upon release of the first episode, this is very is old and posting on older topics is necro. We never got to writing a complete review on Angel Beats but the short story is we liked it overall but it was not a show stopper. If you want to write a complete review and submit it, and if it passes edit we will post it.
