Danny Choo, the Tokyo Stromtrooper released this adapted OP for his second season of Culture Japan; A show dedicated to learning about Japan, it’s people, and it’s entertainment. The Mirai Millennium OP was used but I’m unsure as to why yet. I’m sure Danny himself has a good reason, unless this was the intended use of the op which it seems it wasn’t. Personally I think it’s interesting, but I don’t care for the mixture it looks rushed and under-animated at times. The same animation frames are run over several time for an op, and the blend with the live action shots just looks odd to me. While I like culture Japan… I don’t know if I’m going to Like Mirai Millennium, and I don’t like this OP mixture that much because it’s trying to be something that it’s not. If that sounds to harsh then by all means offer a constructive response to this trailer below. Again, the critic in me is honestly not impressed. I’d rather see Mirai Millennium OP be finished and attached to an Anime TV Show rather than being cut up for Culture Japan, which already has a cool op.
Your Thoughts?
Personally I rather like this video. The music has kind of a smooth jazz feel and a lot of the scenes have kind of a layered 3D effect. I do however agree with point made on the mixing of 2D and 3D. I can see what they’re going for but it still gives off a strange feel. Rushed? Sure, maybe… but definitely not bad. Maybe when the actual TV Anime comes we’ll know its true intended use.
