That’s right today a few tweets went out from Tokyo Pop stating that they have some new titles and that they want to get back into the print manga business along side their existing digital service. Tokyo Pop also mentioned that they have some new titles and some existing titles that might be coming down the pipe, if the licenses can be obtained. The tweets seem vague but signs point to action, and this action leads us to believe that Tokyo Pop is planing its comeback.
On Tuesday, Stu Levy wrote, “I know that you’re all eager to have the same access to your favorite manga titles that we could previously provide and I promise that I am continuing to explore any and all opportunities to relaunch the manga publishing operations of TOKYOPOP‘s business.” Stu is the brave man at the helm of Tokyo Pop, he is an industry icon and has been around the animemanga industry block a few times for sure.
Wait isn’t he the jackass that shut down Tokyo Pops printing before? If I were a stockholder I would demand a new CEO.
Tokyo Pop is not publicly traded but has many private investors, I’m sure their not all to happy.
