Professional level Cosplay is expensive, time consuming to make and requires extreme levels of detail. Pro cosplayer Crystal Graziano and actor Lee Reherman were hired to cosplay by Red 5 Studios to cosplay the companies new MMO Firefall. This is not the first time a company has hired cosplayers to portray in game characters, but it’s rare outside of conventions and launch parties. I rather enjoy when companies do this, it must be a dream to be hired to cosplay for a large company, well unless your the guy who has to wear the giant sandwich costume and wave at traffic all day. Hardly cosplay but paid to dress up.
The Costumes are amazing, the art team and costume makers spared no detail. From the battle damage and dirt, to the actors makeup and hair. This was an all out custom build, and the materials ranged from fiberglass to latex, cloth, foam, paint, wood, metal, pretty much the whole nine yards. Time and a team of costume makers can turn out some amazing results.
Some people disagree on calling this Cosplay, rather they would classify it as acting or being dressed up by a company. Cosplayers also say if you did not build it yourself it’s not cosplay. I personally still think it is Cosplay, simply put it was built custom for you, but the human in the costume makes the costume work, thus the person is still Cosplaying. What are your thoughts internet people?
