Animeland Wasabi 2012: Day 2

Welcome to Saturday, the best way to summarize Animeland Wasabi is with a quote from the Front man of Pendulum “This Concert is your concert, It is what you make it! Start Jumping, be marry, and have some f%^@ing fun!” I could not agree more, Wasabi is what you make it and we had a great time on Saturday. I spent the majority of my time shooting photos and chatting with attendees. We had a few pending interviews lined up but I could not locate the guests outside of there panels so they fell through, I really wish the staff would help schedule press related things such as guest interviews, but it’s not such a big deal, more of an after thought.

Well one member of Animeroot crew was up and about early morning and went panel hopping. He sat in on the “LoL is that Hentai?” Panel. He said that it was fun and was mostly adult awkward comedy with lots of guests sharing their thoughts out loud, overall a funny adult panel. After that he stuck around for the HorseDeer event, he reported that it was a cooking and learning event. The focus was on learning how to prep and cook onigiri. He said it was entertaining and reported that for a morning panel it was a great success. We can share with you the video used to instruct the guests on just how to make onigiri. Link to Video HERE.

Later that afternoon we as a group did several group photo shoots, we helped organize the large photo groups for gaming, Poke’mon, and Vocaloids. The turnout was much bigger and better then I was expecting and the costumes were amazing. We also focused down and shot several portraits and select shots. The photos turned out great and I’m sharing some of them with you, we have higher even better quality versions on our side, so what you see here or over on facebook is the tip of the iceberg in terms of qualitysize quantity. We will of course be posting more to our main gallery and If you want your photos in high quality please let us know we would be more than happy to give them to you. C&C was attended by our Friends over at Go Away Robot, they have posted their gallery and you can check it out on their website HERE. Animeroot did not attend the C&C this year, we were busy doing photo shoots outside. I spoke with several of the other press outlets that did attend the event and they all said that shooting the C&C was extremely difficult this year. The lighting was poor, the costumers moved to fast across the stage, and that the some of costumers did not follow the instructions for stopping on the X on Stage and then turn and face the crowd. The word down the grapevine was that the event was “Just okay” or “Could use some major improvement”. Well there is always next year, always room for improvement.

Ah yes you were waiting for this weren’t you? Quite possibly the best event of the weekend. Very much the best anime convention rave in our 4 corners region, The Tecnosabi Rave. Just like last year the DJ lineup was diverse and impressive. The tunes did not stop till the sun was cracking over the horizon. We shot some impressive photos and danced the night away. If I had to have just one bad thing to say about the rave I’d say some of the DJ’s were a little to fast for my taste but again that’s just my personal taste. Overall it was a blast and went off without a hitch. Even later that night a few animeroot crew played ninja in the halls for several hours, and we stopped in for some DDR and gaming downstairs. There was so much to do and see on Saturday, I wish I could clone myself and attend even more events, but since we don’t live in the sci-fi world just quite yet I stuck to my plans and everything worked out great.
