Toonami has been growing and updating it’s lineup. Adding huge shows such as One Piece and Soul Eater and Naruto Uncut. Toonami’s lineup is very diverse a mix of old and new and that’s a good thing, but it’s still lagging behind the live release curve of web services such as Hulu, CrunchyRoll, ect. As for the main reason for the release delay, well it can be broken into a few points; First being that Toonami plays only localized dubs, this requires a U.S. company to buy rights to the show, produce a dub and a State side release on a DVD/media. Secondly Toonami is a TV segment that runs on the Adult Swim Block that runs on Cartoon Network. All shows must be screened, re-licensed and approved by several parties. There are a ton of details that have to be worked out, but that’s another article.
If you are wondering is Sword art Online any good? Well I wrote up a short recommendation HERE
So check that out if you have not heard of or watched SAO yet. As far as the Demo goes, well I’ve included the Dub Trailer in this post, I can’t give a solid review of the Dub until I have watched at least 3 episodes of it. Why 3 epps? Well Characters in any language take time to develop, often it takes 3 or more episodes for the voice actor to sync up with the character. Writing and direction also improves as the show progresses; So before passing judgment based only on a short promo trailer I ask you to give it 3 episodes.
Oh and if your wondering when and where you can see this show well, it’s on Toonami, Which is every Saturday night, check your local TV guide for details. The Show is scheduled to premiere sometime in August. Can’t wait for that well you can buy the DVD release or the limited edition Blu-ray, you can preorder from RightStuf USA HERE.
