Q: So David how did you get into voice acting?

A: I graduated CU Boulder with a major in Journalism, and then I moved to New York. While doing standupsketch comedy in New York I was approached by a talent scout and it all began from that. My first gigs were in radio and TV ads.

Q: Do you prefer anime or video game voice acting?

A: I’m all embracing, I love it all. Anime and video games are very similar to me.

Note: David Vincent did various voices for MTV Celebrity Death Match.

Q: How does anime voice acting compare to your other voice acting gigs such as advertising?

A: I love it all, but Anime and Video Game Voice acting really lets me flex my acting chops.

Q: Do you enjoy playing the hero or the villain?

A: Both in some cases, Van from Gun X Sword was a super fun hero to voice and he was a character who could be super calm at one moment and could explode into action at the drop of a hat. As far as villains go well bad guys get to be evil; Grimmjow from Bleach for example was so much fun and working with Johnny Yong Bosch created some great energy and was a ton of fun.

Q: What was your favorite role or character?

A: Again it’s so hard for me to choose just one; Van from Gun X Sword is my favorite and up there in a close second is Grimmjow from bleach, well those are my top to anime roles. As far as games go my first choice would be Jin from BlazBlue and then Richard from tales of graces and Marshall Law from Tekken as well. They were all very fun and challenging.

Note: Gun X Sword is a great show that flew under the radar, if you have never seen it or heard of it check out this full episode posted by Funimation, watch online HERE on Youtube. Q: How was it working Patrick Seitz as Ragna on BlazBlue?

A: It was good to work with Patrick, loads of fun! When I worked with Patrick on BlazBlue we had great energy and studio chemistry. Patrick was not just a voicing Ragna who is Jins Brother, he was also directing vocals. It’s always a good time working with him.

Q: Are you into playing video games or watching anime as a hobby?

A: I watch anime on occasional basis, and as far as games go I have always enjoyed Tekken. I’ve been playing Tekken since it came out, I love my Tekken.

Q: Any favorite anime shows or movies that stand out?

A: Cowboy bebop and The Ghost in Shell movie are amazing; these are masterful works of animation.

Q: Any favorite American TV series?

A: 30 Rock and Arrested Development. I’m very happy to see Arrested Development is returning to air!

A: Pikachu I should note that I’m not a huge Pokémon follower.

Q: P90X? You look great man!

A: Why thank you! Well I have done P90X before, but I mostly do a lot of running and yoga and TRX suspension training. Getting into shape and staying in shape really helps me feel good.

Q: How is Colorado and how is weekend going here at Wasabi?

A: Fantastic so far! It’s great to get out here to meet and greet the fans, and I love doing panels. It’s very rewarding to meet the people who admire your work and to teach those interested in getting into voice acting. I love getting out of the box, conventions are a blast and all you fans out there are the best!

Q: Any up and coming roles you would like to share with us?

A: FateZero where I play both Archer/Gilgamesh, the show is amazing and the production quality is top shelf, and the talent is very strong; trust me you’re going to love it.

Q: If you could have any role for any anime or game past present of future who or what would it be?

A: So many great roles, Hidan from Naruto Shippuden and The Joker from the Justice League animated movie. Both would have been amazing and powerful characters to portray.

I loved being in Japan it was an amazing experience and I would love to do it again. I do have some new projects that I’m working on but you will have to wait and find out just what they are.

Q: What role were you most proud of?

A: Van in Gun X Sword is most definitely the role I’m most proud of. Van was a very challenging role and it demanded me to be very versatile and dedicated.

David recorded a special marriage proposal track from a scene where Van takes a knee and talks with his love interest; the special track was very well received, so much so that the Japanese director wanted it on the DVD release.
