Friday oh Friday, The mile high city has been awaiting your arrival. The skies are clear, the wind is mostly calm and oh yeah… AnimeLand Wasabi is kicking on full tilt. Wasabi is Colorado’s spring anime convention, a perfectly placed warm up from the cold long winter. Fans, cosplayers, and people from all over the region come together to have some fun.

Our Friday is going well, though getting here was a little crazy, since the area street layout is really confusing and it is extremely easy to miss the exit ramps you need. Luckily parking was not a problem and either was checking in. Service was fast and without many problems, short of not getting our fridge in a timely manner. Badge lines moved reasonably fast, and this year was much more organized. We grabbed our badges and we were on our way.

Opening ceremonies was very fun, though it was lacking a bit in production punch, Warky was a great highlight and the all the important information and rules were explained. I personally think this event needs more wow factor to bring in more people, my honest opinion it was good but a bit dry. After that we stumbled over to the artist ally and the gaming room. Impressive setup overall Wasabi and Colorado Cut Throat really delivered honestly one of the best gaming rooms I’ve set foot in. Artist ally on the other hand felt cramped and hot. The layout was a bit cramped and it was hard to stop and shop due to the small isles. Well after that we checked into the Rock Band room. The Death of the Arcade always delivers a fantastic setup with full stage, lights, smokes, fx and full size instruments. Like many other con goers we then went forging for food, and found that the surround are had many good Indian restaurants and shops. A quick stop at our local super market and some dinner and back for some photos and exploration. With the weather being as nice we wanted to do several photo shoots outside, so we scouted out some great spots and tested. After a some photos we relaxed and went about checking out panels and rooms. We settled on the Power Rangers Movie by NinjaHell. The commentary was great, the retro 90’s Mighty Morphing Power Rangers is a throw back and in retrospect a horrible film overall. But toss in some comedy and another perspective and it’s funny as hell.

That pretty much wraps up day one, we are having a good time and I hope you all are having a good time too and we are looking forward for what Saturday brings us.
